people say the cd version of knoppix 4.0 wont be out til quite some while after linuxtag
so far they only sell the dvds of knoppix 4.0 at the exhibition

4.0 CD not availible yet

That's right. Here in Karlsruhe at LinuxTag you can only have a pressed DVD for 5€. That's the iso with little more than 4 GB which is availible as torrent.

There's an iso on torrent already? Wow, that's fast Exclamation . I just searched about 40 minutes and didn't find the DVD iso, thanks for the links, they really help out.

I see these torrents are the DE version, are the iso's all in German or is there an option to use English with the image ?

you can only modify the keyboard/locale settings if i am not mistaken.... you cant switch on the fly over to a different language for all the apps bundled inside knoppix.

This is brought up every time Mr. Knopper released a German only ISO. It defaults to both a German keyboard map and German for all dialogs & menus. I am not absolutely certain, but other German releases allowed the user to use US English at boot up by using the Cheat Code:
knoppix lang=us
where the '=' is done with SHIFT + 0

The past release of Knoppix 3.8 Cebit Edition was German only and I hexedited the ISO file and created a fully default US English version. It should be possible to do the very same thing to Knoppix 4.0 DVD ISO. If anyone is interested, the process for hexediting the ISO is described here http://www.knoppix.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=78397#78397. The hexedit allows me to edit the /boot/isolinux/isolinux.cfg file. I searched & then replaced every entry of lang=de to lang=us.

Now more than ever, I am begging everyone who finishs this (provided their not on a modem or other wise pay per minute/amount downloaded) TO SEED THIS!!! This is a huge download and the more people we have seeding the better. Everyone max out your upload bar and leave your computers running!!
