live CD and UMTS

Hello Forum,

Has anybody managed to get Internet access from Knoppix live
using a UMTS stick?

Yes, I have tried myself plenty, yes, I have failed everytime.
Please do not ask for details, just tell me how you succeeded.

I got an Internet connection from Knoppix live using the UMTS option from the main menu, Preferences. NetworkManager was useless. Indeed, it was telling me that I was disconnected even when I was already on the Net. The UMTS menu option sports dialogs from the fossile Motif library. I do not mind that it is ugly but the text is just tiny fragmented bits. And you have got to know something to get through, no help.

Installing modemmanager with synaptic provided me internet. Also via Preferences > GPRS/UMTS Connection was net access available. Matti Ollikainen
