Current status of knoppix on Dell machines?

OK, that's good to know! I haven't had the i810 boot-up problem since 20031119. I really don't like all this shared ROM i810 onboard stuff....

However, I have since hdd installed the entire lab and still have a low res problem to deal with. I tried changing the vga=791 lilo.conf line to no avail. Maybe I'll try that BIOS setting you recommend for the hdd installs!

I'm also running it on a Dimension 2300, works great!

Edited to add: Works great with CD and HD install.

My Dimension 4100 at home runs fine with the KNOPPIX CD and hdinstal!

BTW, I now i notice something strange in my lab at school where I used knoppix-installer as debian 20031119 on every PC. On boot-up, I get the lilo screen and everything works fine if I select linux or WIMxP.

However, I can't get the BIOS login screen anymore. These are Dell Optiplex GX270s and I used to see on the boot screen "F12=BIOS" and "F11=I forget." How do I get to the BIOS again to switch to the 8MB VRAM?

After booting Knoppix on two different Dell optiplex gx260 pc's they didn't boot anything anymore, because of some flash BIOS problem.
The problem was finally solved by removing the battery from the motherbord when the power was switched on.
As far as I know the problem should have been solved as well by shorting the battery contacts on the motherboard or by shorting the RTC reset jumper (next to power cable connection of the motherboerd) for a few seconds. However that didn't work.
