Yes it's possibill
you have to copy the /boot/vmlinux-2.6.5 and /boot/initrd.img-2.6.5 and /boot/System.map-2.6.5
you also have to copy the hole /lib/modukes/2.6.5 dictory
Then you have to edit the /etc/lilo.conf, to include the new kernel.
I have recently installed Knoppix 04-05-17 over my slightly older 04-05-10 version. My problem is that the 2.6.6 kernel of 05-17 does not support Reiser4 whereas the 2.6.5 kernel of 05-10 did. Is it possible to copy the 2.6.5 kernel of the 05-10 CD onto my HDD, let's say to replace the 2.4.x kernel that I never use? I'd really like to access my (testing-purpose) Reiser4 drive again.
I have heard that it is possible to copy a whole kernel from a Knoppix CD to a HDD install, but I do not know which files to include. Can anybody help me with this one?
Thanks in advance!

I downloaded the 040510, and even when booting into the 26 kernel, it gives the "file system" not supported error when trying to mount reiser4 partitions.
Have the 040510 ISOs been modified? Are there any other Knoppix verions with support for reiser4? Thanks.
Do you use the initrd image in your lilo.conf?
I am booting from the CD with the 2.6 kernel without passing any options.
Actually, I did not notice what boot manager the CD used, but from your response I'd have to guess lilo.
Do I then need to pass options on boot, or edit the lilo conf? I thought only grub allowed command line editing on the fly at boot up?
Can you please elaborate on your suggestion concerning lilo, and how to boot a 040510 Knoppix CD so that it will have reiser4 support built into the kernel?
What I am trying to do is find a Knoppix CD that I can use as a rescue disk for my reiser4 system, just in case.
Thanks, I appreciate the help so far...
Hence this is the hd install forum i thot you used a hdinstall, hence ia lilo boot manager.
The cd version uses syslinux
Type knoppix26 to boot a 2.6 kernel from the cd.
Yes, my mistake, wrong forum. I was piggy-backing onto the reiser4 comments that I searched for in google, and didn't notice the specific forum.
I don't think the booting from the CD supports reiser4, even on the 2.6 kernel. Thanks anyway though.
